9th Annual Family Picnic

Our 9th family picnic? Where does the time go?

On Saturday, August 26th CCDL will once again host our Annual Family Picnic at Boothe Memorial Park – 5800 Main Street on Putney, Stratford, CT.

We’ll supply the burgers, hotdogs, soft drinks (no alcohol allowed in the park) and condiments. You can bring the family, the chips, dip, or whatever side dish (and a utensil to serve it) you’re most famous for making, and some lawnchairs or a blanket to sit on. (Helpful hint: write your name on a piece of masking tape and attach it to your bowls/spoons/etc so you are sure to get them back)

This is a FREE event for CCDL members and their families. Bring some cash, we’ll have all our CCDL merchandise for sale as well as a fun shirt sold especially for this event. We’ll also be raffling off lots of prizes. (The more raffle items the better, if you would like to donate something to the raffle, that would be great! Please contact Holly Sullivan and let her know what you’d like to donate. It doesn’t have to be gun-related or super expensive, anything fun and legal that you and other people would like to win.)

So come to Boothe Memorial Park and enjoy the day with other CCDL members. Bring blankets, chairs, and your family. Come have a good time, relax, make new friends, and celebrate our right to keep and bear arms. Come and get to know us and your fellow members, and learn more about what CCDL does to protect your rights as a gun owner in the state of Connecticut.

As we said, this a family picnic. There will be water pistols, horseshoes, frisbees, wiffle balls, and all sorts of games for kids young and old. There is no alcohol allowed in the park, but pets on a leash and lawful carry of firearms are permitted. Please use an appropriate holster, and keep it holstered.

When: August 26, 2017 from 11am until 4pm.
Where: Boothe Memorial Park
5774 Main St. Putney
Stratford, CT 06614

Note: Please do not park on the grass (unless directed to by the police) or in a handicap spot (unless you have the placard). If the parking lot is full (it’s a little small), you can park nearby on Putney Chapel Way (see the map below), and walk into the park from there. It’s against park rules to park on the grass, but in the past to police have allowed it in certain spots. Also don’t park along Rt 110/River Rd. It’s dangerous and you can’t actually access the park from there, even though it looks like it on the map.

Happy Halloween!

OK, here are the pumpkins I got for the contest a few weeks ago. Not as many as I had hoped for.
First up is the original. I understand there is a new and improved version of this, but I haven’t seen it yet.

And here are the rest.

I also got one other entry which really isn’t a carved pumpkin, but I said I would include it, so here ya go.

Now, I have a pretty good idea which one I think should win, but who knows, I might be swayed by some comments, so I’ll wait a day or so to announce the winner. I might even allow a late entry to slip in if you did a pumpkin and didn’t send me a picture yet.

Halloween Fun

OK, something just for fun for a change. Here’s a Halloween Jack O’ Lantern carved by CCDL member Dave O. Is this cool or what?

I decided to run a little contest, just for fun. Let’s see YOUR CCDL or pro 2nd Amendment jack o’ lantern or carved pumpkin. Best one, as determined by me will win a prize.
Prize to be determined by me (since I’m paying for it), depending on how many entries we get. More entries = better prize.

Email a photo of your pumpkin to blog@CCDL.us with the subject: PUMPKIN. I’ll take entries up until October 30, 2013 and then post them all here for Halloween.

UPDATE: A CCDL member has offered a brick of .22 ammo as a prize to the winner if we get enough entries. So get carving!
