New Week – New Gun Bills

Here are the new proposed gun bills for Monday, January 23, 2017.

Proposed H.B. No. 6336 REP. LOPES, 24th DIST.; REP. LEMAR, 96th DIST.; SEN. MINER, 30th DIST. ‘AN ACT AUTHORIZING THE USE OF SUPPRESSORS ON HUNTING RIFLES’, to reduce hearing loss and hearing damage from firearm discharges.

Proposed H.B. No. 6499 REP. OHLER, 64th DIST. ‘AN ACT ALLOWING POLICE ACADEMY FIREARM TRAINING TO SATISFY THE FIREARM TRAINING COURSE REQUIREMENT FOR A FIREARM PERMIT’, to permit the completion of a minimum basic training program conducted by the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection or the Police Officer Standards and Training Council to satisfy the firearms training course required for receiving a firearm permit.

Proposed S.B. No. 557 SEN. FRANTZ, 36th DIST. ‘AN ACT CONCERNING LOWER-POWERED RIMFIRE TARGET PISTOLS’, to allow the purchase and possession of any .22 caliber rimfire target pistol.

Proposed S.B. No. 558 SEN. MARKLEY, 16th DIST. ‘AN ACT CONCERNING RIMFIRE TARGET PISTOLS’, to exclude from the definition of “assault weapon” any .22 caliber rimfire target pistol that is designed for use in target shooting.

Proposed H.B. No. 6322 REP. DAUPHINAIS, 44th DIST. ‘AN ACT AUTHORIZING THE UNLIMITED TAKING OF GAME PURSUANT TO A HUNTING LICENSE’, to remove limits on the number of game that may be taken pursuant to a hunting license.
