Press Release – Lawmakers Demand Stores Ban Guns

for Immediate Release:

(Groton, CT) The Connecticut Citizens Defense League addresses letter from members of Connecticut’s Congressional Delegation sent to the Connecticut Food Association.

Comments from CCDL President Scott Wilson:
“Senators Blumenthal, Murphy and representative Esty are over-stepping their bounds with regards to their authority. Instead of concerning themselves with federal issues, they are using the Federal Government letterhead to harass a state level association (Connecticut Food Association). This is a bully tactic that is being deployed by legislators that in reality have little to say about Connecticut state laws. What the three of these people are doing has absolutely zero to do with state law anyway. Esty, Blumenthal and Murphy are actually trying to circumvent existing state law by forcing retailers into enacting a policy that dictates the manner in which law-abiding citizens can carry firearms.”
“As a 2nd Amendment rights organization, we wish to remind our two senators and representative that there are nearly 250,000 legal carriers of firearms in Connecticut. Their attempt to arm twist the Connecticut Food Association into imposing a policy on lawful gun owners is beyond their job description, and does nothing to enhance public safety. They should concentrate on fixing Washington, because it needs it”.

About the CCDL: The Connecticut Citizens Defense League was formed in 2009 by a small group of concerned citizens as a non-partisan organization to advocate second amendment rights in the state of Connecticut. Since their founding, the group has grown to over 22,000 members from across the state.
Thanks to this large supportive base, the CCDL has become a fixture at the state capitol, and well-recognized by committees that see firearms related bills.
As the go-to organization in the state they are consulted regularly by lawmakers who have questions and concerns about pending legislation or existing laws. For more information on the CCDL please visit

    • Or move out of the state because unfortunately the populace will continue to vote blue. Consider McMann vs Murphy… Murphy had zero experience at pretty much anything and he won.

Good luck Connecticut, my family moved out and won’t come back.

  1. These three suck ups need to remove their noses from Obama and Malloy’s nether regions and do the job they were sent to Washington to do, defend and uphold our Constitution.

  2. Maybe they should be putting this kind of effort into more important issues we are facing. This state is falling apart at the seams.

  3. CFA looks like a lobby organization for the food trade in CT. From a brief browse of their website, it does not appear to me that they have any power to dictate policy to any of their member companies. I could be wrong, as I said, I took a quick peek at their website.

  4. Blumenthal has always maintain that he is going to do what he feels is right NOT what the people OR the constitution state They ALL need to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. No reason someone needs to bring their gun with them to purchase milk, bread or other necessities? Really? Will there now be a police officer at every entry/exit point of every grocery and convenience store, ready to take down a potential bad guy there to do me bodily harm? I thought not.

Therefore, I will continue to carry my firearm EVERYWHERE I go (that includes ALL Gun-Free Killing Zones) regardless of what these idiotic pinheads, or suck-up fools willing to do their bidding, say or do. Because, unless I am on my property or out in the woods, I always carry concealed. IMHO, open carry in most places in Kommiecticut is going to end in an encounter with LE and the court system, and not worth it.

  6. Walk into a Cumberland Farms some time and try to shop when they are getting robbed and see how defenseless you feel. CCW permits allow people to not only protect themselves but protect others whose life might be in danger.. If Law Biding Citizens are not allowed to have weapons then only criminals will have weapons!! and we all know that the police are not just 5 mins away from every bad situation!!

  7. The law was written in CT in order to obtain Pistol permit by the state of CT you must go through an 8 hour certified NRA training course, along with state and federal background checks. This class 0 permit allows the individual to carry a pistol or revolver in open carry or concealed carry. As far as I am aware at this point there has been no mishaps of individuals carrying their legally own firearm in the state of CT. The liberal logic is absolutely absurd in this respect and completely unconstitutional. I urge all firearm owners to call their state representatives to put a stop to these lawmaker’s decisions. Three law makers, do not control the people. We the people control the lawmakers.

  8. This is disgusting. This is what happens when you give them an inch (complying with tyrannical registration requests), and also when a large part of the population reflects DEMONcratic thinking. Although voting them out will be a good thing, rest assured, this will only put a bandaid on the situation. You have a large portion of the population that drank the post Sandy Hook koolaid given to them by the pied piper of propaganda, and you also have a large amount of law enforcement that reflect the political culture in CT, no it does not look good to all of a sudden, kick out the evil trio, and replace them with Republicans, and poof!!! all is good and restored with liberty in CT. Not a bad start, but, if you think that is all that its going to take to restore 2nd Amendment thinking to CT you are kidding yourself.

The reason this nonsense would not even be thought of in states like AL, MS,TN, are becasue the culture there (still) is pro gun, and they are ruled by Republicans. The tyranny that has been allowed in CT (once considered a cradle of liberty state) is because of liberal, progressive, Constitution and Bible hating culture to consume that one conservative, God fearing, Constitutional state.

I find it interesting that in the “Bible belt” states gun rights are alive and well, but in liberal states that are all politically correct when it come to the Bible and out Judeao/Christian heritage, gun rights are being suffocated…..Just a thought.

CT freedom lovers, history has shown that emails, letters and phone calls don’t seem to be slowing the clouds of tyranny over this state, the question now is: What can be done to stop any further erosion of rights and restore what has already been lost???

    • Doesn’t it just make you WANT them to enforce the “assault weapon” registration so we can prove a point. Wouldn’t it just drive the Authorities crazy if we have a open carry of AW’s throughout Connecticut on April 19th?

  10. What part of “shall not be infringed upon” do they not understand?
Infringe……Act so as to limit or undermine (something); encroach on.

    • Thanks for posting this guys .. I did it elsewhere too. My take: what they are doing via sending out this letter is ILLEGAL. Stealing is what is is via improper franking. They will be getting an earful.
