The CCDL Executive Board has selected someone for CCDL’s annual “Legislator of the Year” award. This award is to recognize legislators who have shown unwavering support for our 2nd Amendment rights during the past legislative session.
The first person to receive this award was State Rep Rob Sampson (District 80) in 2012. Last year we recognized State Rep Steve Mikutel from the 45th district.
This year, the Board has chosen State Senator Joe Markley (16th Senate district) to receive this award. CCDL President Scott Wilson had this to say about our choice:
“The Connecticut Citizens Defense League Executive Board is proud to have selected Senator Joe Markley to be the organization’s named “Legislator of the Year”. Though there was little activity during the legislative session pertaining to firearms issues, Senator Markley has been looking ahead into this election cycle with an eye towards protecting our rights. This year is crucial for the future of 2nd Amendment rights in Connecticut”.
As those of you who can attend our monthly meetings may already know, Joe attends many meetings himself and has been instrumental in helping CCDL members become more involved in the process of electing Pro2A legislators, as well as retaining those already in office.
Joe will receive his award at our August 12th monthly meeting in Middletown. We invite all CCDL members to attend and thank Senator Markley for helping us restore our rights here in Connecticut. Thank you, Joe!
The Connecticut Citizens Defense League (CCDL) has secured Ambassador John Bolton as a speaker for a small, private dinner that we are hosting at the Patterson Club in Fairfield on July 20th, 2014. This fundraising dinner is specifically designed to appeal to gun owners that are also business owners, gun manufacturers and other high-profile individuals. The event will be by invitation only and will be closed to the press. 100% of net proceeds go to the CCDL Litigation fund to fight further infringement on our Second Amendment rights.
Tickets are available for a donation of $1000 per person or $9000 for a table to ten for gun clubs and various manufacturers. There will be a cocktail hour in which people can speak with Ambassador Bolton personally and get a photograph. We also plan to have a live auction for a couple of highly collectible firearms from Colt’s Manufacturing Company and Ruger Firearms. Colt’s has generously donated a unique Colt 1911 Marine Pistol from the Colt’s Custom Shop for which they have a 5-year wait list.
Connecticut is on the front lines for gun control. If last year’s laws are allowed to stand, they will be a blueprint for further infringements on our gun rights for ALL states to follow. If you are not interested in attending, I would appreciate it if you could circulate this to some of your friends and associates that might be interested.
Please help support CCDL in fighting for YOUR Second Amendment rights!
Contact Bob Ferguson with interest.

CCDL Senate District Teams
We are working to build support for pro-2A candidates in the state senate districts that voted for SB1160. This effort is crucial if we are going to put an end to more anti-gun bills passing in the future. We are asking YOU to get involved in this process. Our meeting will be focused on this effort as a first step. Please join us, and learn how you can help.
This is where we can make the biggest difference!!
We sell CCDL merchandise at the meeting, buy it there and save on shipping.
