MAIG/Moms Demand Action

I just got this from a trusted CCDL member who needs to remain anonymous, but just HAD to share this, so I said I would post it for him/her.

Do you guys remember that public service announcement (PSA) by Mike Bloomberg’s group Mayors Against Illegal Guns with the supposed gun owner that was promoting “gun safety” (control) laws while he was breaking 4 separate gun safety laws with a shotgun in the PSA itself (with a little girl playing in the background)?

Does anyone remember how everyone was questioning whether or not that clearly incompetent man was actually a gun owner (promoting gun control), because of how blatantly wrong & unsafely he was handling “his” weapon?

Well…. I’m in acting class today, and my acting teacher tells us she just got done shooting a PSA for Bloomberg’s group, in which she represents Moms Demand Action as a “mom & gun owner” in the PSA. The funny thing is…. She’s neither a mom NOR a gun owner. In fact, I spoke to her afterwards…. she had no idea what my politics are, and I pretended to be anti-gun…. She told me that she HATES guns, & has never even handled one before. I guess that answers that question! LOL!

So, We all knew Bloomberg was helping to fund MDA, and we always suspected their “gun owners who support gun control” were fake. Now you know.

New Ammo Laws Take Effect Tomorrow

Reminder, the ammunition permit requirements of SB1160/Public Act 13-3 go into effect tomorrow, October 1, 2013. After today you will be required to show a permit to purchase ammunition or magazines (10 round or lower, of course) in the state of Connecticut. If you already have your Pistol Permit, Certificate of Eligibility, or the new Long Gun Permit, you will be able to use those to purchase ammunition or magazines. If you don’t have one of those, you must obtain one of them or you may apply for an Ammunition Permit. The cost is $35 for 5yrs, and you may download the application from the state website here (pdf).
Even though the application implies it can be mailed in, you MUST submit the initial application in person at the Special Licensing and Firearms Unit located at 1111 Country Club Road, Middletown, Connecticut
06457-2389. Your photo for the permit will be taken at that time. I was also told you are not supposed to sign the application until you are in their presence (which is not mentioned anywhere on the application).

You will not be able to legally purchase ammunition or magazines in CT until you have one of the above permits.

CCDL is working hard to overturn this and all the other unconstitutional CT gun laws. You can help us by donating to our Litigation Fund.

Updated on 10/1/2013 to add that you must apply for the initial permit in person.

Poker Run Recap

Thanks to everyone who came out for CCDL’s First Annual Poker Run. The turnout was outstanding! I’ve heard it was one of the larger poker runs anyone has ever seen in CT, which is really amazing considering it’s our first and the weather was questionable. All the profits will go toward fighting CT’s antigun laws, so thank you all very much!

Thanks to all the sponsors, the stops along the way, and most of all the 40-50 volunteers who helped make it all happen. For those who couldn’t make it, we have pictures and video of what you missed.

First, here’s the link to our photo gallery and slide show from the event: Photo Gallery – Poker Run 2013

Then we have a short video we’ve put together:

Last, I’d like to point you toward some other great videos of the event others have posted. You can check them out by clicking here.

Constitution Day 2A Debate – Video

On September 17, 2013 Rob Sampson (yeah!) debated Ron Pinciaro (boo!) on the merits of Connecticut’s new gun control laws. For those who couldn’t attend, here’s video of the debate. You can decide for yourself who won.

For The Record

CCDL President Scott Wilson appeared this morning on WHPX-TV’s “For The Record” with host Shawn Murphy. WHPX is part of the Ion TV Network, which is carried by most cable companies in CT, and this episode is supposed to be aired again soon. Fortunately it’s also posted online, so you can watch it here.

Poker Run Route

NOTE: THIS IS THE ROUTE FROM THE 2013 POKER RUN ONLY.

IT IS NOT THE SAME AS 2014’s!

Route directions for the 2A Poker Run tomorrow are posted below. We’ll have copies of them as well as maps at the start point, but for those with a GPS you might want to get a head start and program the stops in tonight. And remember, you’ll still be able to buy raffle tickets (if there are any left!) in Southington at the King 33 rally finish right up until the drawing.

2nd Amendment Poker Run

Come Join CCDL on September 21, 2013 for a 2nd Amendment Poker Run!
All Proceeds go towards the Litigation Fund. For those that don’t know, a poker run is a driving event combined with the card game poker. It’s mostly done by motorcycle and classic car clubs, but while we certainly encourage you to bring your Harley or ’57 Chevy if you have one, it’s not required.

The run will begin at Woodbridge Firearms Trading Post located at 28 Selden St. in Woodbridge. Registration is from 9:30-10:30am and the cost will be $20 per rider or driver and $15 per passenger.
At Woodbridge Firearms you will be given directions to various locations.
At each location you will pick a playing card from a deck.
You can expect to drive about 60 miles total. The Poker Run will end up at King 33 Training Facility, 75 Aircraft Rd in Southington, where the people with the best poker hands will win prizes.

At King 33 there will be food as well as live music by the band “After Midnight”. Registered participants eat for free. Those not participating in the Poker Run can purchase food passes for $15.00 each.

This is also your last chance to buy tickets for our HUGE raffle, and we will be drawing the winners at King 33 in the afternoon. The Grand Prize for the raffle is a custom motorcycle with an airbrushed paint job of your choice on the tanks and dash from Explicit Airbrush in Southington. We have lots of additional prizes in the raffle including an ATI 12 gauge over/under shotgun, Charter Arms Chic Lady .38 Special Revolver, Ruger 10/22 takedown rifle and a Ruger LCP .380 Pistol.
Winners must be legally eligible to take possession of prizes.
